Ceremonial Grade MatCha - Sedona Arizona's Full-Leaf Tea Store
100% MatCha, a premium Sakura (Hikari cultivar) ceremonial grade of powdered green tea. From the historic tea gardens of Uji, Kyoto prefecture, Japan. This ceremonial grade is almost always prepared plain (no sweetener, milk or flavorings) in the Usucha Japanese style, thin, with more water and less powder. The vigorous whisking during the tea preparation gives usucha MatCha its instantly recognizable frothy head and resulting crema. For stronger Koicha style, more powder and less water, thicker, almost melted chocolate consistency - it is carefully blended instead of whisking. This exceptional tea is made of tender, hand selected leaves which were shade-grown for 3 weeks before plucking. First undergoing the tencha processing method, then ground with a granite stone mill, the brilliant, bright green powder offers a creamy texture, smooth taste with light sweet notes.
HIGHER CAFFEINATED (approx 50% of the caffeine as coffee)
AVAILABLE AS: 1 OZ Tin
Tin size is 1 ounce or 28 one-gram (half teaspoon) servings, for traditional matcha bowl.
PREPARATION: To try in the plain traditional Japanese style called Usucha (thinner viscosity like tea), use a half-teaspoon or one gram in 175°F (80°C) 5-6 oz fresh water. We first sift the matcha to remove any lumps, then whisk well using a bamboo “Chasen”.
