Where in Sedona should you stay when you visit?
Touristy Uptown Sedona might be full of shops, restaurants and art galleries, but West Sedona is where most locals actually live.  Although West Sedona is less touristy and convenient, it can also be less of a close-to-nature experience than many other parts of Sedona.  The northern side of the neighborhood is mainly residential with nothing near walking distance  All the action (shops, restaurants and movie theaters) takes place along busy Highway 89A, so visitors might find this area more convenient than the mainly residential streets.  However, hotels in this side of town have more a common city feel to them, so you might find it difficult to get a room with unobstructed views of the red rocks.  You may find an expensive room with the perfect view, or don’t worry about the windows and go hike the remote trails for your Sedona experience.
